Attraction Details :
Although the first
ruler of the Haripunchai city, Queen Phra Nang Chamthevi, is much
celebrated, the founder and father of the city has a far more unusual
story. The SuthewaRuesi statue commemorates the father of Haripunchai:
an ascetic hermit, or Ruesi, who refrained from worldly affairs.Legend has it that the wise ascetic invited the daughter of the King of Lopburi, Phra Nang Chamthevi, to take the throne of the city. Following her ascension, SuthewaRuesi was instrumental in helping the Buddhist queen to firmly establish the religion in her land.
The memorial is open daily from 8.00 am-6.00 pm. More information is available at 0 5324 8604 and 0 5324 8607.
