Bo Lek Nam Phi or Nam
Phi iron well, washistorically the best source of top-grade steel,
called Lek Nam Phi, used to forge swords and other weapons in ancient
eras. Two sources or “wells” are still open to this day, and are the
sources of the only metal used to fashion weapons for Thai kings.
Visitors will find the nearby roadside populated with stalls selling Lek
Nam Phi steel amulets, blades and swords, a chance to experience a
touch of royalty.Bo Lek Nam Phi Museum is also located nearby. Visitors can explore each step of the entire process of hand-forged high-grade Lek Nam Phi steel swords. Shops selling Lek Nam Phi amulets and souvenirs and snack kiosks are available at the museum.
This ancient site can be reached by going a distance of 42 kilometers to Amphoe Thong Saen Khan. Continue for another 14 kilometers on Highway 1245 to arrive at the location.
Admission is free of charge. The museum is open daily from 8.00 am-5.00 pm.
