Sirindhorn Peat Swamp Forest Nature Research and Study Centre

Attraction Details :
This research and study center is located in one of the last remaining peat swamp forests in Thailand. The forest itself is expansive and is spread over three districts, including Tak Bai, Su-ngai Kolok and Su-ngai Padi. Eighty of the forest’s 192 square kilometers are covered by dense forests, providing a fertile habitat for the area’s many flora and fauna. Major waterways that pass through the area are Khlong Su-ngai Padi (a canal), Bang Nara River and Khlong To Daeng, from which the forest derives its name.
Informative and fun nature study treks are offered here, including a 1.2 kilometer trail that begins at the research center and leads to a thrilling, suspended wooden bridge and beautiful scenery. Informative signs provide interesting facts about the local plants and provide guidance for new trekkers.
It is recommended to travel by train from Bangkok as the last station is at Su-ngai Kolok. Alternatively, cars can be rented at Su-ngai Kolok. To get there by car, take Highway No. 4057 (Tak Bai - Su-ngai Kolok) for about 5 kilometers, then turn off and proceed for 3 kilometers to Chawananan Road. After that, turn left and proceed for 2 kilometers, where signs will lead visitors to the center. For more information, contact P.O. Box 37, Su-ngai Kolok
The trail is open daily from 8.00 am-4.00 pm with free entry.
