Attraction Details :
This medium-size
waterfall has a year-round water supply and is shaded by large trees. Of
most interest is a type of beautiful tree that grows in the area, the
rare Bangsun Palm, found in jungles at 1,800 meters above sea level.
Originating from Malaysia, the Bangsun Palm is a relatively small tree
that grows up to 3 meters in height. It has neatly arranged large,
diamond-shaped leaves. It is regarded by many as the most beautiful palm
in the world, and is found only in this forest. The plant was named by Professor Prachit Wamanon, advisor of royal projects, when he surveyed the area and found the palm growing in a Muslim village. The professor saw that the palm leaf was similar to a Bangsun, a large umbrella used in processions. Meanwhile, locals call the palm Buke Ipae, meaning mountain centipede, likely in reference to the shape of the flower.
Namtok Chat Warin is located in Tambon To Teng, not too far from town. To get there, take Highway No. 4056 to Su-ngai Padi Hospital, then turn left for 6 kilometers.
It is open daily from 6.00 am-6.00 pm.
