This 25-acre zoo is
widely known for its interesting residents: birds and mammals from Asia
and Australasia. Constructed in 1940, the prime minister at the time
attempted to develop Lop Buri into a major city by building many
facilities, including this zoo. However, after his rule ended, the zoo
was abandoned. In 1977, the Special Warfare Unit took charge, working with various clubs, traders and the public to renovate the zoo. Now, the most striking feature of the zoo is the unusual family of three tigers and four dogs that live in apparent friendship in the same habitat.
The zoo is located behind the Army Theater, 1 kilometer east of the Sa Kaeo Roundabout. It is open daily from 8.00 am-6.00 pm. For more information, call 0 3641 3551.
