Takrabark reservoir is
situated in moo.10, Tayake sub-district, Meaung district, Srakaew. It
is far from Meung district for about 32 km.This reservoir is a large one with 17.50-metre tall, 720-metre length. There are forests with many perennial and ornamental plants. Takrabark has beautiful scenario making it be a good place for relaxing and enjoying nature.
About the history of Takrabark reservoir, King Rama IV wanted to improve irrigation system in Piedmont plateau area. In 24 February B.E.2521, the king ordered directors of Royal Irrigation Department to meet him at Bhubingpalace. Then, Takrabark reservoir was created in B.E. 2522 and finished in B.E.2524. The objective of this reservoir is to be a water supply for agriculture and consumption.
The benefit of this place besides being a water supply is that it is a fresh water fish breeding center. It also mitigates and prevents flood.
Nowadayes, Takrabark is a tourist attraction for people in Meuang district, Watananakorn district and nearby districts. You can come here everyday from 8.30 am. to 4.30 pm. For more information, please contact 0861332668 or Srakaew Irrigation Project (037261667).
