This village is famous
for its craftsmen who build traditional Kolae boats. This type of boat
has been used by the fishermen of Pattani and Narathiwat for centuries.
The distinctive characteristics of the Kolaeboat include the narrowing
of both the bow and the stern and its colorful
decoration. Besides the life-sizeboats, the villagers of Ban Paseyawo
also make miniature versions as souvenirs. The design, building and
decoration of the boats by the local people is a fusion both Malay and
Thai cultures. Ban Paseyawo is also reputed for producing the best
southern-style Budufish sauce in the area.To get there, take Highway 42 just outside of Pattani town heading east for about 20 kilometers until just past the village of Yamu. Turn left onto the road to Panare for about 14 kilometers. When you reach the T-junction at Panare, turn right and continue 24 kilometers along the coast on Highway 4157 until your reach Ban Paseyawo in Amphoe Sai Buri.
