The King’s Golden
Jubilee Nation Museum was built on the occasion of His Majesty’s 50
years occasion to the throne in 1996. It is the museum of ethnology
which is located at Tombon Klong 5, Amphur Klong Luang, Pathumthani
province on 305 rai (488,000 square meters) to celebratethe auspicious event of Thai people. The Fine Arts Department, who processed the construction, enshrined the ceremonial name to be used as the sector’s name, “Kanchanapisek”, The King’s Golden Jubilee National Museum.
The National Museum project on ethnology was derived from the Fine Arts Department who considered how to develop the nation according to The National Economic and Social Development Plant 1996 which focused on centralization distribution from the city to suburbs. This museum is considered as The 3rd National Museum on central specific field.
Apart from this, the Fine Arts Department combines other fields with the Heritage Conservation for Arts & Culture secdtion, which was moved from Bangkok to be built in the same area in order to be the art and culture center commemorating King Rama IX, the learning center which covers many aspects of knowledge about Thai people, art and culture, ethnology and nature study. The objectives behind this project are to provide learning benefits to visitors and to be the introduction of travelling and studying other regions in Thailand.
Inside The King’s Golden Jubilee Nation Museum are museum and conservational offices such as National Archives in Commemoration of H.M. The King’s Golden Jubilee, The Supreme Artist Hall and The National Geological Museum. Although The King’s Golden Jubilee National Museum has not been finished in construction yet, it can provide knowledge to students or those who are interested in travelling-exhibitions to educational institute and community center. The exhibition has many learning materials such as art pieces, models of ancient items and slides. The experts will give the explanation to the audiences. In 2005, The King’s Golden Jubilee Nation Museum was opened in antiques and artifacts date section where over 10,000 ancient items and art pieces such as baked clay materials, clothes, weapons and equipments used in agriculture were displayed in open-storehouse.
